The Sanctuary

This 858sqm social wellness club in Shoreditch was conceived as a spatial ecosystem designed to support the interconnected needs of mind, body, and soul. I developed the concept and layout to hold multiple states of being—stillness and movement, solitude and connection, nourishment and integration—woven through a plant-based café, ethical concept store, non-alcoholic bar, large event and workshop space, co-work, 70-person sauna with cold water integration room, a studio for embodied practices, and a working greenhouse growing herbs and adaptogens used throughout the space.

A non-alcoholic elixir bar crafted from antique copper boiler tanks and reclaimed wood.
The floor mural draws inspiration from indigenous art and the concept of movement and flow.

Woven pieces are integrated throughout, honouring the building’s history as a weaver’s factory. A commissioned wall hanging by Eva Dennis interlaces threads from the surrounding area's long textile tradition into a single, continuous fabric.

Changing rooms designed as gentle thresholds, to offer a moment of integration and to help people see themselves with kindness before stepping back into the world.

Drawing on the ritual of contrast therapy, the design extends the theme of opposites: the 70-person sauna evokes fire and the sun, while the cold plunge room embodies water, ice, and the moon.
